A Blessing for all women and mothers
A blessing from the men of All Saints church to women and mothers in our community and beyond.
To all the women in our community and beyond.
We choose to bless you today in the name of Jesus.
Whether you are young or old, rich or poor, single or a single mum, married or widowed. If you had children, hoped for children, couldn't have children or never want children, we choose to bless you in the mighty name of Jesus.
We give thanks to our loving heavenly Father for your creativity and courage, for your leadership and your strength. We honour you today and hold you up in our community for all that you bring that is good and right and true.
We give thanks that by the Holy Spirit working through you, you enrich our lives and bring God's mothering heart of compassion and care to our community.
We grieve the women and mothers who we miss today, but we are thankful that we are inheritors of their tireless and stead-fast nurture.
As best we can, we see the struggles and the pain that you sometime carry, the unseen places where you have given much, but been misunderstood. The places where you have be misheard and sidelined, hurt and cast aside.
We speak the life, the peace and the healing of Jesus over you.
But most of all we stand with the risen King Jesus in the garden as he calls Mary by name and gives her the first kingdom commission. We say that you have a name and you have a calling and we want you to be all the Jesus has made you to be. Arise, shine, for your light has come.
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you
and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face towards you and give you peace.
We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen
